4.2.4.4 Summary of Blood Mixing During Venipuncture

Each tube should be treated as follows:

• Tube #1 - Serum – DO NOT MIX; place in rack at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 90 minutes.
• Tubes # 2, 3, and 4 - Place on mixer for ~30 seconds, then place in ice bath.
• Tube # 5 - See appendix 4 for processing
