4.2 Equipment and Supplies

The following supplies should be stocked in the patient’s room for overnight urine collection:

• Antiseptic wipes
• Sterile specimen containers

The following additional supplies should be stocked in the processing area:

• 1M Acetic Acid
• Barcode ID labels for specimens and final aliquots – provided by the LCBR
• 4.0 mL Sarstedt cryovials
• 10.0 mL Krackler cryovials with yellow and green cap inserts
• 1-2 L sterile bottles to store pooled urine collections
• 10% bleach solution or approved disinfectant
• Lab mats and wipes
• Pipets. Volumes needed to pipette: 3 mL, 9 mL and 25 mL
• Refrigerator
• -70°C freezer (or -20°C freezer and dry ice)
