1.3 Cuff Size Determination

It is important to use the appropriate cuff size to assure accuracy and prevent false readings. Proper cuff size will be determined by measuring the circumference of the child’s upper arm, measured at the midpoint, and identifying the appropriate bladder size from the chart attached (same reference chart listed in Resting Blood Pressure Manual). If the measurement falls between sizes it is better to use a larger sized cuff (smaller cuff gives false high values).
