Hi there

Does anyone know if there is a way to identify which parent cohort a participant is from, through the study id (pptid) in the SHHS dataset?

Winda,

Unfortunately the parent cohort identifiers were purposefully stripped out of the SHHS dataset as part of BioLINCC's de-identification process. The only method I know of to get this level of information would be to go to BioLINCC and then request access to some of the parent cohorts themselves (e.g. ARIC, Framingham, CHS). BioLINCC holds on to a dataset that links the NSRR subject IDs back to their original cohorts.

Hi Mike, I'm trying to determine just number of participants from each parent cohort that contributed to SHHS. Can you please let me know or tell me where I can get that info? (just like: how many SHHS study participants were CHS vs. Framingham etc) . thanks!

Lana,

The breakdown of the NSRR SHHS dataset, as originally taken from BioLINCC, goes like:

  • 1,915 ARIC
  • 1,230 CHS
  • 688 Framingham Offspring
  • 1,971 Other (mainly New York / Tucson)

Thanks for checking out the resource!
