MESA Dataset Access Request Denied

Dear NSRR Team and Community, I recently submitted a data access request for the MESA Sleep dataset on sleepdata.org, but I received a notification that my application was denied. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on why my request was rejected and how I can revise my application to meet the NSRR Data Access Committee's requirements.

Hello. The NSRR Data Access Committee responds to all requests via email if a request must be denied or closed. We apologize for the inconvenience and request that users check their spam or junk folders for emails from support@sleepdata.org. The most common reasons for closure are the following:

1. The US DOJ implemented new regulations that prohibit access to US data by Countries of Concern and Covered Persons as defined by 28 CFR Part 202. Countries of Concern are People’s Republic of China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Venezuela. In accordance with these regulations, the NSRR is required to deny access to data contained in the National Sleep Research Resource to applicants located in a Country of Concern or who are otherwise a Covered Person under the regulations.

2. Applications are incomplete and responses to emails requesting more information remain unanswered for more than 30 days.

3. Submissions returned to applicants requesting updates remain in resubmit status and updates are not provided.
