17.10 Recording the PSG

17.10.1 Starting a New Study

  • 1. Turn on the computer.
  • 2. Make sure the control box and Patient Interface Box (PIB) and connected and plugged in.
  • 3. Click on NetBeacon (Record) Icon.
  • 4. “E-Sleep” display box will come up.
  • 5. Double click on the appropriate monitor that you will be using. Family has two monitors #266 and #269.
  • 6. Viewing window with signals will be displayed. Maximize window to full screen.
  • 7. Toggle off of View (single click on the tool bar).
  • 8. Click on New located on the toolbar.
    1. Enter patient information:
    • Surname: Family and Personi number (F1234567)
    • Given name: Leave blank
    • Reference: Control Module number (266 or 269), technician’s initials, PIB number (51255 or 52731) and participant’s room number.
    • Study Information: Configuration (click on the down arrow to display choices)
    • Select FamilySUM. It will be highlighted.
    • Prompt will appear: “About to apply configuration for new study? Yes/No.” Select Yes.
    1. Click OK at the bottom.

Note: Must at least select ‘Configuration’ to be able to record. Next to the blinking box on the icon toolbar the patient information will be displayed.

17.10.2 Set the Computer to Record the Sleep Study

  1. While in the View screen, select Record icon on the tool bar. Make sure you only click once. Twice will turn it off.
  2. Check the ‘blinking’ icon. It should now read REC (in red) for recording.
  3. You are now ready to start signal verification.
